Texas Teachers CIO to step down

By TEXPERS Staff

The chief investment officer of the Teacher Retirement System of Texas, Jerry Albright, is planning to leave his position but continue with the system in an yet-to-be determined manner, according to a report in Pensions & Investments magazine published Nov. 21.

Jerry Albright
The systems' board of trustees will meet Dec. 12 and 13, and discussion of personnel matters relating to the CIO position is on the agenda. Albright has worked as the district's chief investment officer since 2016. Before that, he worked as the deputy chief investment officer in the system's Investment Division, as the fund's chief operating officer, and as its director of Investment Operations, according to his official biography.

TEXPERS has not reached out to Albright nor the retirement system's spokesperson for comment.

According the Pensions & Investments article, Robert Maxwell, the system's spokesperson, declined to comment on Albright's intention to step down as CIO. Maxwell did tell the publication that a plan is in place to "ensure continuity of high quality leadership for its Investment Management Division and other key positions..." Maxwell did not elaborate on the timing of changes to the system's Investment Management Division.
